The Research Agenda for GeoVisualization produced by the ICA Commission on Visualization and Virtual Environments (CoVVEs) identifies a range of evolving issues that require continued research effort (MacEachren & Kraak, 2002). One of the key recommendations of the agenda is that such efforts are multidisciplinary in nature and draw upon expertise in a range of related fields. The CoVVEs terms of reference include the exchange, development and dissemination of ideas at international level. The City 2002 meeting of the ICA CoVVEs aims to address these requirements. A four-day workshop hosted by the School of Informatics at City University, London provided the opportunity for experts from a number of disciplines to discuss various aspects of the Research Agenda, share experience and ideas and look to future collaboration. The outcomes of the meeting are being recorded and made accessible to the community as a whole through a peer reviewed edited publication. Thanks to all participants who attended and contributed to a successful meeting. Plenty of exciting work was presented and cross-disciplinary synergy generated. Various documents will be made available here to help complete the work that was agreed in London.
